Teacher, Laura Cometa, one of the best and most passionate teachers that I know, highlights culturally relevant and appropriate reading materials used in her classroom. Through hard work and dedication, Laura and her students have published three books – two of them bilingual - over the last three years.

On the road again, this time to Koreatown where I visit with Ed Colacion, Principal of Young Oak Kim Academy (YOKA), an LAUSD Small Learning Community (SLC) Middle School, which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). It is also the first public school in Los Angeles to use single-gender instruction - separate tracks for boys and girls.
